ABOUT ALISON
Alison is an award winning composer and multi-instrumentalist with over thirty years formal and informal education experience. Former students have gained places at Conservatoires and Drama Schools and many are now enjoying successful careers in the music industry.
Alison studied composition with Alan Bullard (Colchester) and George Benjamin (RCM) and has recently completed a PhD with Paul Mealor and Phillip Cooke at the University of Aberdeen. Her works have been published and performed internationally.

She studied piano with Zuzanna Nash, David Smith, Peter Uppard and Kenneth van Barthold and has extensive experience teaching and accompanying students preparing for performances. She is passionate about teaching Music Theory from absolute beginners to advanced (Grade VIII+), firmly believing that understanding the basic principles should be fun and underpins study at all levels.
Alison is a qualified teacher and has for many years taught GCSE and A Level Music and Music Technology, vocational Music and Performing Arts. She enjoys working with both young people and adults.
She is also an accomplished folk musician, playing piano accordion, fiddle and tin whistles and singing, with an ongoing interest in English folk song. She has many years experience as a Vocal Coach and Musical Director for Musical Theatre and enjoys working with students preparing for auditions.
